Malmgård is one of the most magnificent manor houses in Finland. The history began in 1606 when Carl IX of Sweden donated 30 local farms to Estonian war widow Catharina Hess von Wichdorff. She later married Ernst (Larsson) Creutz from the near Suur-Sarvilahti manor house and Malmgård was Malmgård Estate (Swedish: Malmgård Egendom) dates back to the early 17th century and since then it has remained in the same family (Creutz). Today Malmgård estate specialises in organic agriculture, the production of local food, craftbeers as well as tourism. House of the Week!
